Ghana’s parliament to enact susu law

The Ghanaian parliament will soon come out with a law to regulate susu collection in that country. Susu collection is a loans and savings scheme in Ghana where clients contribute regularly to a savings company for a time and are at liberty to benefit from their contribution anytime possible.There are over 400 individual susu collection companies across the country. And yet there are people who have had bitter experiences from some of the companies in the past. There is the problem of most of the companies folding up overnight and vanishing into thin air, without clients tracing their where about.It is to check some of these anomalies that the Bank of Ghana started arresting and closing down most of the susu collection companies.

Museveni: Africa must unite

The people of Africa must strive to promote unity among themselves rather than pursue issues that cause divisions, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has said. He expressed concern over the disunity on the continent. The leader observed that the different languages on the continent should instead help to unite the masses.He was speaking at the 10th annual National Prayer Breakfast held at Hotel Africana in Kampala on Wednesday. The event is always organized by Members of the Parliament of Uganda. This year’s prayer breakfast was under the theme “Unity in Diversity”.

Man butchered for resembling ex-leader

A witness at Charles Taylor’s trail has alleged his brother was butchered because he resembled the former Liberian head of state Samuel Doe. Patrick Sheriff the 50th witness in the ongoing trial recounted how his brother was severely butchered in Sierra Leone for no apparent reason at all.Sheriff told the court that he has seen the worst atrocities in the Sierra Leone civil conflict which was committed by a commander called ‘Peleto’ alias ‘Friday’ because he normally went on killing spree on every. Sheriff said his brother was killed and later his fingers were chopped off because he looks like Doe.
